There are many fine restaurants in Newport, and they all do a fine job of serving up the staples -a little duck a l'orange here, a little beef Wellington there, etc. If it's standard, repetitive fare you're looking for, you don't need to read this.

Dinner at The Place has been described as "a culinary Safari," "a feast for the eyes as well as the palate," and - frequently - as " the best meal I have ever eaten." Enough Said?

To get some idea of what The Place and Chef Alex Daglis, Jr. have to offer, you must really take a moment to study the menu. Eclectic and original, our appetizers and entrees change seasonally, based on the availability of ingredients, the influence of the weather, and the endlessly creative imagination of the Chef.

Although renowned for it's menu, The Place was originally conceived as a Wine Bar - and true to those origins, the Wine List remains second to none in price, quality and taste. Offering an average of twenty wines by the glass, over 150 bottles over amazing variety, and Flights (4-3oz. samples of our wines by the glass, with accoutrements,) the owners strive to make your experience at The Place an event no to be forgotten.
